Recent News and Updates
The recent tainted tissue scandal has rocked the medical world to its very foundation. Allegations of stealing tissues from unsanctioned bodies, forging medical documentation, conspiring to deceive grieving family members, and profiting off potentially deadly tissues are merely some of the charges leveled against the owners of Biomedical Tissue Services. Thousands of people across the country are at risk of developing potentially deadly infections like HIV, AIDS, hepatitis, and syphilis.
Several recent developments have further increased public scrutiny of illegal tissue harvesting. Law firms in New York, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, Alabama, Georgia, Tennessee, West Virginia, Florida, Ohio, and Texas have filed class actions and individual lawsuits in federal and state courts, and several other countries including Canada have begun to reexamine their stockpiles of tissue samples for possible contaminates.
One such case is that of Ned Jackson of Omaha, Nebraska who claims that he caught hepatitis B and C from a tissue sample he received after undergoing back surgery. Not only does he now have to live with chronic liver problems, he cannot have the offending tissue removed from his back. With his filing in March, 2006, Mr. Jackson joins the two dozen (and growing) other victims who have bravely come forward to take action against the despicable and deceitful criminals who poisoned their bodies and compromised their health.
Those responsible for this most offensive and heinous crime need to held accountable for their actions. If you or someone you love was the victim of a tainted tissue transplant, you may have the right to financial compensation for your pain and suffering.
